Kyoto attracts everyone. People travel to Kyoto
from all over Japan and the world. Kyoto has certain appeal to attract people.
We would like all visitors to enjoy Kyoto. We love Kyoto too, and we offer our
best effort to make their time in Kyoto memorable. No matter which season and
no matter how many times you visit Kyoto, it presents you something new and deep:
rich natural environment, plain but purified garden in temple, seasonal events
held in the local community, etc. It is what Kyoto can offer you with its eternal
history.
Nishiyama is to be safe and comfortable home in Kyoto for our guests. Not only
providing clean and comfortable room, but also we are learning about Kyoto every
day to provide better and precise information about it. We are not a giant hotel,
but once you visit us, you will feel our warm hospitality for each guest, and
the deep love for Kyoto.

| Message from our executive managing director |
| I am the third generation director of this hotel.
My grandfather started the classic Japanese ryokan more than 50 years ago. I often
consider 'What is the role of Nishiyama?' Finally I reached the answer and that
is to let as many people as possible feel and understand this precious culture
which only Kyoto can offer. When I was in my 20s, I often traveled overseas including
Asia, Europe, America, etc. At that time, I was able to perceive Japan from outside.
I still remember the deep emotion when I confirmed that Kyoto was comparable to
other famous historical cities in the world.
One of my dreams is to spread the Kyoto fan linkage to the world from the small
lobby of Nishiyama. The koto mini concert is the first challenge. It was small
concert and everything was organized by our staff from setting the stage to preparing
English instruction. As a result, not only people staying in our hotel but also
who were staying in neighbors came and enjoyed the concert. Our heart reached
them.
We will never stop making effort to improve as a hotel in Kyoto. Cooperating
with our neighbor shops and people, we will try new things to let people know
more about Kyoto. At the end, I hope that young generation feels same with us,
and hope they improve themselves to be a brilliant hotel staffs.
